Molwind - Mapping Molecule Spaces to Geospatial Worlds

In drug discovery, the analysis of molecular contexts represented by genes, proteins, bioactive compounds and their relationships remains a challenging task. Visual approaches may help to guide this investigation process. In addition, mapping of structural spaces to geospatial layers could introduce new intuitive ways of navigation (e.g. elevation, level-of-detail etc.) to be applied to the exploration of complex data sets.

Therefore, Merck Serono researchers have initiated the Open Source project "Molwind", a server based on NASA's World Wind concept. World Wind is a browser to navigate interactively on planetary terrain.

At the moment we are heavily in the process of redesigning the source
code of the server prototype to be able to present a first downloadable
executable. Therefore we are very thankful for every support from the
community. Please see the developers' section for more details about the
development roadmap and how you can contribute to the project.
